About CIVERGE
An emerging cross-partisan movement for responsible politics.
CIVERGE exists because people should not have to choose between holding principles and learning from evidence, between disagreeing honestly and governing together, or between solving today's problems and preparing for tomorrow.
Why the name?
CIVERGE evokes two ideas: civic and converge. Different perspectives do not need to become identical. They can converge around shared standards for how public decisions are made.
The acronym gives those standards a name.

What CIVERGE is
A coalition with a method.
CIVERGE is a cross-partisan civic movement centered on integrity, evidence-informed policy, responsible governance, constructive engagement, and measurable results. It does not require a shared party identity or automatic agreement on policy.
What CIVERGE is building
Infrastructure for responsible politics.
The near-term work is practical: publish and test policy frameworks, connect people who share these standards, invite professional and community expertise, and create paths for local participation. Additional activities can develop later as governance and legal structures mature.
Why it started
A founder's note
CIVERGE was started by Miles Jorgensen, a local elected official and environmental professional, after seeing how often public decisions are forced into partisan categories even when the underlying questions are practical: What are we trying to accomplish? What does the evidence show? What are the tradeoffs? Did the policy work?
The purpose is not to build an organization around one person. It is to build a framework that can be used, challenged, improved, and carried by people with different political identities.
— Miles Jorgensen, Founder
What we intend to do
Build credibility by doing the work.
CIVERGE will begin by developing ideas in public, applying its policy standard to real questions, inviting criticism and expertise, and building a network of people interested in responsible politics.
CIVERGE is presented as a civic movement. This website does not represent CIVERGE as a political party, PAC, candidate committee, or tax-exempt organization, and it does not imply tax-deductible status. Any future organizational or political activity will be structured and disclosed as appropriate before it is undertaken.
